The Non-Traditional Student Organization (NTSO) fosters a community that supports students who have had non-traditional experiences surrounding their collegiate journey. This student organization provides a support network and place for non-traditional students to thrive at Texas State University.

What is a Non-Traditional Student?
Students who have defining characteristics and lived experiences that set them apart from traditional students, as defined by the National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES) and Texas State University, which include:
- Delaying entrance into college after high school.
- Attending school part-time (less than 12 credit hours per semester).
- Students with children.
- Students who are married.
- Financially independent from parents/family members.
- Returning to school after taking time off.
Membership
Requirements:
- Identify as a non-traditional student as described above.
- Must be able to attend membership meetings.
- Must attend at least 2 programs per semester hosted by the organization.
- Must be able to pay membership dues of $30 per semester.
